I had a lovely game of dominoes with toddler girl yesterday. We often say she likes things ordered, and loves to count anything. Very often in the car she count the number of corners we go round.
We haven't played much with our large wooden dominoes really, and I started off on the farmyard amimal side. We had a short game with them, but when I turned them over to shuffle them, toddler girl immediately began counting the dots.
She was super quick to recognise the same numbers, and loved lining them up to match. We passed a quiet half hour playing this way, and I think it was a great way to challenge her a bit and also help with counting a number recognition.
She's over a year off starting school yet, but is already showing signs of wanting to learn more and stretch her brain. Let me know if you know of any good STEM games for toddlers.
